The program is designed to introduce participants to different types of recreation in a supportive, social environment, while encouraging confidence, independence, and connection.
All programs are for people living with a physical or cognitive disability.
Participants sign up for individual days rather than the full program, making it easy to build a summer schedule based on interests, availability, and energy level.

- Paddleboarding and lake days at local state parks

2026 Season Details
Specific dates, activity schedule, and registration information will be available once the season is finalized. Please call the CDA office or check back for updates.

Schedule and Structure
Season: June–July (8 weeks)
- Primary days: Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Typical hours: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Some activities may take place on different days depending on partner or venue availability.
Participants sign up for individual activities rather than committing to the full program. Space is limited, and most participants sign up for one activity per week. Additional days may be available if space allows.
Group sizes are typically small, with around 8–12 participants per activity, depending on the location and type of activity.
Program times reflect the activity itself and do not include transportation time. Some activities may involve travel outside of the immediate Grand Junction area, such as trips to Grand Mesa or the Rifle area. These days may have adjusted timing to accommodate travel.

Transportation
CDA provides transportation to and from activity locations for most Summer Adventure programs. In some cases, participants may have the option to meet directly at the activity location.
Program hours reflect the activity time only and do not include transportation. If using CDA transportation, participants should plan to arrive earlier for drop-off and may be picked up later than the listed program time, depending on travel distance.
Additional details will be shared for each activity once schedules are finalized.

Accessibility and Support
Summer Adventure is designed to be as inclusive as possible, with most activities open to a wide range of ability levels.
Some activities may have specific limitations due to terrain, equipment, or location. When that is the case, details will be provided so participants and families can make informed decisions.
Caregivers and friends
- Caregivers may attend to provide personal support when needed
- Participants are welcome to bring a friend or family member who would like to join the program and can participate independently.
- Space may be limited for certain activities with our partner organizations, and additional participants may not always be accommodated
What to Bring
Participants should come prepared for outdoor activities. Depending on the day, this may include:
- Water
- Lunch (unless otherwise noted)
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Weather-appropriate clothing
Participants should arrive prepared for sun exposure, as many activities take place outdoors with limited shade.
For water-based activities:
- Swimsuit or quick-dry clothing
- Towel
For Harmony Acres:
- Closed-toe shoes
- Long pants
Specific recommendations will be shared for each activity as needed.

Cost and Registration
Cost: Starting at $20 per day. Some activities may cost more depending on location and partner fees.
Registration opens around mid-May.
Participants sign up by calling the CDA office. Space is limited, and some activities fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged.
